Getting swept up in “life on the go”…

When I met Jacob*, he was busy with a career, a loving wife, and two active teenagers.

Days were made up of work, music lessons, and softball practices, leaving little time in the chaos of busy family life for him.

Time alone with his wife was rare, and when they were together they felt more like friends than the passionate couple they once were.

Maybe life’s not bad, but SOMETHING is missing…

The passion Jacob once had for his job was gone. He now felt stuck in his career, working to maintain his family’s lifestyle.

He felt unfulfilled and struggled to enjoy his daily life. But there wasn’t anything wrong that he could but his finger on.

So… Jacob reached out for help to discover what was causing his emotional turmoil and feelings of being unfulfilled.

How therapy helps…

Together, Jacob and I established what was working in his life and explored his feelings and concerns about what was missing. I challenged him to be introspective and look at his part in his current situation. We set goals and created a plan to help him rediscover his underlying wants and needs.

Jacob was able to reconnect with his wife in a meaningful way using a variety of communication techniques that he learned in therapy. Increasing communication and empathy for each other helped to rekindle their passion.

He found a balance with the extracurricular activities with the kids by learning how to set appropriate and reasonable boundaries. This led Jacob to step down as coach, so he could cheer from the sidelines.

Jacob carved out time for his own interests, many of which he had stopped enjoying years ago, by developing self-care strategies, such as long distance running and an online course to improve his career.

All his efforts, self-awareness, and growth left Jacob excited about his future and happy with his day-to-day life.
